Cam Maxwell has been involved with the electronic dance music scene for over a decade in the Toronto region. Beginning in the early 90s, heavily involved with Toronto’s underground RAVE scene, Cam gained experience as a DJ, an event organizer and a promoter. After taking a brief break to explore other avenues in life, Cam returned to Toronto’s underground music scene in 2007. Since his return Cam has been able to quickly re-established himself in Toronto’s afterhours clubs as not only a DJ, but as an individual with a genuine love and appreciation for everything the electronic dance music scene stands for.
Cam Maxwell has the unique talent of being able to play to any crowd. Whether he’s playing tribal, techno, or tech-house, Cam’s style and sound is distinct. His unique blend of powerful house genres and the vocals he commonly mixes in, sets Cam apart in his music and always gets the dancefloor moving. His ability to control and understand the mood of the crowd has allowed him to connect to the dancefloor in a way that has quickly made Cam one of Toronto’s favorite DJ’s.
2008 was a big year for Cam Maxwell, as he quickly secured residencies at Film Lounge, The Basement, Footwork, Comfort Zone, and Guvernment. Cam also had the honor of opening for such international headliners as Cedric Gervias, Honey Dijon and Paco Osuna.
2009 was no different for Cam, with his schedule regularly filled up months in advance. He had the opportunity to open and close for international superstar producer/DJ Benny Benassi, as well as open for international headliners such as Green Velvet, Donald Glaude, Sydney Blu, Hatiras, MC Flipside and Fred Everything. Cam had the honour of being on the same bills as many other international DJs at the legendary long weekend parties that the Guvernment complex throws, such as Labour of Love. After appearing as a guest on the new online radio station, Scenester Radio (www.scenesterradio.com), Cam was invited back to co-host several shows due to the positive response his interview received. Cam was also invited to play several shows on the west coast at the end of year, moving dancefloors in both Vancouver and Whistler.
As we enter 2010 it’s already gearing up to be another stellar year, as Cam continues to bring his sound to the electronic dance music community. Cam has already been invited out west to rock Vancouver’s clubs once again, the “Miss Raquel & Cam Maxwell Show” is also planning several more shows for the year on Scenester Radio, and Cam has also been honing his skills in the studio and plans of having several releases throughout the year.
Cam Maxwell’s ever expanding schedule is focused on one thing: To produce and play banging house tunes for electronic music lovers. Always engaged with events for the love of the music and of the scene, Cam is constantly putting his energy and passion into his productions, DJ sets, gigs and the clubs that so faithfully bring house music to Toronto on a weekly basis. By continually introducing new music, which he researches religiously, Cam has continued to rock afterhours clubs all over Toronto and Canada.
